In the Android policy, when enabling the password policy, it is necessary to select the desired password quality. Often, questions arise about the meaning of each option. According to Google's official documentation, the requirements for each are:
Unspecified Password Quality: No minimum requirements for the password.
Any: A password is required, but there is no minimum complexity enforced.
Numeric: The password must contain only numeric characters.
Complex Numeric: The password must contain numeric characters but disallow simple repetitions (e.g., 4444) or ordered sequences (e.g., 1234, 4567).
Alphabetic: The password must contain alphabetic characters or symbols.
Alphanumeric: The password must contain both alphabetic and numeric characters.
Complex: The password must meet defined minimum requirements such as minimum length, minimum number of letters, symbols, and other configured criteria.
Low Complexity: Low complexity passwords such as simple unlock patterns or simple PINs.
Medium Complexity: Medium complexity passwords such as PINs without repetitions (e.g., 4444) or ordered sequences (e.g., 1234, 4567), alphabetic passwords with at least 4 characters, or alphanumeric passwords with at least 4 characters.
High Complexity (Android 12 or higher): High complexity passwords such as PINs without repetitions or ordered sequences but with a minimum length of 8 characters, alphabetic passwords with at least 6 characters, or alphanumeric passwords with at least 6 characters.
