Establishing control over incoming and outgoing calls is an important practice to enhance the security and efficiency of communications on mobile devices.
In this article, we will explain how to create blacklists and whitelists of phone numbers using the Urmobo Caller ID app.
📥 1. Adding Urmobo Caller ID to the Policy
Before configuring, you need to include the app in the desired policy. Follow these steps:
- Go to Side Menu > Management > Policies.
- Select the policy where the control will be applied.
- Go to the Play Store tab, search for Urmobo Caller ID, and click Select.
⚙️ 2. Configuring the Application
With the app already included in the policy:
- Go to the Applications tab.
- Click the menu icon to the left of Urmobo Caller ID and select Managed Settings.
🔧 3. Enabling Call Blocking and Allowing
In the Managed Settings screen, you can customize the app’s behavior. The settings are divided into four main options:
- Block all incoming: blocks all incoming calls.
- Incoming – Allow and Block: lets you configure specific numbers to allow or block for incoming calls.
- Block all outgoing: blocks all outgoing call attempts made by the user.
- Outgoing – Allow and Block: lets you configure specific numbers to allow or block for outgoing calls.
Start by entering a name in the Configuration Name field. Then, customize the other fields according to your needs.
🛠️ 4. Creating Specific Lists
If you want to allow only certain numbers and block everything else, follow this model:
- In the Allow field, add the permitted numbers.
- In the Block field, enter a single asterisk (*) — this will act as a general block for all other numbers.
đź’ľ 5. Saving and Applying
After configuring:
- Click Save on the Managed Settings screen.
- Then, click Save again on the policy page to apply the changes.
📱 6. Finalizing on the Device
On the device:
- Open the Urmobo Caller ID app.
- Grant the permissions requested by the app.
block_all_incoming: false incoming_whitelist: <numbers added in the managed configuration on the portal> incoming_blacklist: block_all_outgoing: false outgoing_blacklist:
âś… Done! Urmobo Caller ID is configured and ready to use.
⚠️ Important: Urmobo Caller ID does not block numbers saved in the device’s contacts.
